WWE Superstar John Cena Kicks Off Nintendo Switch Promotions in California
With the impending release of its hybrid-console next month, Nintendo announced that they will be holding a fun type of promotional event for interested gamers around America.
Nintendo Switch's marketing gimmick will involve an interactive room that will be set-up in three different locations around the United States. In the interactive space, avid gamers can try out the upcoming console for the first time.
The first stop, however, is an invite-only event, and it will feature World Wrestling Entertainment star John Cena to kick off the rest of the promotional events. It is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 23, at 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m PST (11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. EST) at The Blue Movie Ranch in Santa Clarita, California. Cena will be trying out the Switch's mini-game collection, titled 1-2-Switch, with several YouTube gaming influencers who Nintendo invited.
The second and third events will be open and available to the general public.
The second stop will be at the Snowmass ski resort in Aspen, Colorado on Monday, Feb. 27, at 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. MST (10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. EST). Nintendo purposely chose the location to prove that the Nintendo Switch can be played basically anywhere.
The last event will coincide with the Switch's launch date on Friday, March 3, at 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST and it will be held at Madison Square Park in New York. This is expected to be a bigger event, with several people cosplaying notable Nintendo game characters such as the "Super Mario Bros."
"The upcoming launch of the unique Nintendo Switch console calls for a unique series of celebrations," says Doug Bowser, Vice President of Nintendo's Sales and Marketing arm in the U.S. "These unexpected locations perfectly highlight the features of the new system, as well as provide one-of-a-kind surprise-and-delight moments that Nintendo does best," he added.
Upon release, the Nintendo Switch is priced at $299.99 with two different variants - one with a set of gray Joy-Con controllers, while the other comes with a neon blue and neon red Joy-Cons.
