Xiaomi Mi 5 Launch Date Confirmed, Specs Leaked in Benchmark Website
The Xiaomi Mi 5 is no secret to the public and many have been waiting for its arrival. Fortunately for the fans, the device is about to come soon. According to a report by Deccan Chronicle, the Chinese electronics company has already confirmed the launch of the Mi 5 smartphone.
The report said that Xiaomi's flagship handset will be revealed during an event that will take place in Beijing towards the end of February. And though there are no official details yet on the specs and features of the device, there are some details about it that have surfaced ahead of the launch date.
As detailed in Techno Buffalo, the device was spotted in benchmark website GFXBench. There it was revealed that the Mi 5 will sport a 5.7-inch 1080p display. Xiaomi co-founder Liwan Jiang also confirmed that the Mi 5 will carry a Full HD panel instead of a quad HD display. He also said that there will be several technological advancements including a high-powered processor, but he did not specify further details.
However, the benchmark listing revealed that the smartphone may be equipped with a Snapdragon 820 processor and Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system. It's also said to come with a 16-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera. The RAM count is noted to be 3 GB although there are some rumors saying that a 4 GB of RAM variant will be made.
International Business Times also detailed that the Xiaomi Mi 5 is expected to have a 2.5D curved glass with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 for protection. It will get power for its backlight via a massive 3,000 mAh battery which will be supported by Quick Charge 3.0 technology, although another report says it will be a 3,600 mAh battery. A fingerprint reader is also expected and it is rumored to be the smallest and fastest scanner in the world. The device may also support NFC.
