Xiaomi Mi 5 News: First Smartphone With Snapdragon 820 Chip Coming In December 3?
Xiaomi is reported to be unveiling its next flagship, the Xiaomi Mi 5, this coming December 3, if recent reports are true, according to a report in Tech Times. If it does unveil this device, it will be one of the first smartphones to sport Qualcomm's latest processor, the Snapdragon 820.
As Xiaomi has yet to make a formal announcement about the device, the report about a December 3 launch came courtesy of a leak from tipster Leaksfly in his Weibo account (via NDTV). The report not only mentioned the launch date, but also the possibility that the device will have the faster processor of Qualcomm so far, the Snapdragon 820 processor. The tipster is also noted to be a reliable one, according to NDTV.
On the other hand, Qualcomm has yet to announce the existence of its upcoming Snapdragon 820, which is considered to be a high-end processor that is devoid of overheating issues that hounded its previous processors. According to Tech Times, the company may be debuting its newest processor by the end of November, which it is likely to do even before a smartphone makes use of it.
The device's specs show that it is going to be a powerful smartphone with the fast processor, a fingerprint scanner and a pressure-sensitive display. Its 5.3-inch screen will have quad HD resolution. It will also have 4 GB of RAM and an Adreno 540 GPU. Internal storage will be at 16 GB and 64 GB, but may possibly come without microSD support for expandable storage. Its main camera is said to be a 16-megapixel shoot with dual LED flash. Battery capacity is said to be at 3,030 mAh.
Despite its possible launch in a few weeks, it may be made available in the market by 2016. Xiaomi however has kept mum about its latest flagship device, which is one of the most anticipated smartphones presently.
