Xiaomi Mi 5 News: The Next Xiaomi Mi Will Be Delayed
The new Xiaomi Mi 5 was reported to be released today, Oct. 19, but recent reports say that it will actually be delayed.
According to the International Business Times, Xiaomi's president, Lin Bin, announced in a Weibo post that the company's new flagship smartphone will not be released today.
The Chinese phone manufacturer earlier sent out invites to the media for an event scheduled today, which increases the speculations that the Xiaomi Mi 5 will soon be unveiled. Bin denied the rumors, and Xiaomi fans were saddened upon hearing the report. The new-generation Xiaomi Mi 5 has been delayed for a few months, and fans can't wait for its release.
According to Tech Times, the new flagship device is expected to run on Android 5.1.1, or Android Lollipop. No updates from Xiaomi was released whether it will be updated to Android 6.0, or Android Marshmallow, since the latest Android OS was already released.
The website also added that the device will most likely be powered by Snapdragon 820, and will have 4 GB RAM. It is said to have 5.2-inch display, with 1920 X 1080 pixels. The screen is also said to be protected by Gorilla Glass 4, and will support fingerprint sensor. The Xiaomi Mi 5 will also come with Type C-USB port, and will have a 3,000 mAh battery. The rear camera is said to have 16 megapixels, while the front camera will be 8 megapixels.
Meanwhile, it is rumored that the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 and Mi Band 2 will actually come out at today's event, instead of the Mi 5 smartphone, according to Ecumenical News. Xiaomi released the two original devices a year ago, and are now due for a hardware upgrade. However, just like the Xiaomi Mi 5, no further details were given on the release date of the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 and Mi Band 2.
