'You're the Worst' Season 3 Updates: Jimmy and Gretchen's Modern Love Dilemmas
On Season 3, Gretchen had to deal with her depression while Jimmy had to learn more about his individuality. How will this affect their relationship?
The way Season 3 of "You're the Worst" started gave us déjà vu.
It opened with Jimmy Shive-Overly (Chris Geere) and Gretchen Cutler (Aya Cash) with no clothes on.
It's nothing new for the show's fans as it is also similar to how Season 1 started.
Except that in Season 3, Jimmy and Gretchen have a different level of intimacy, which means that their relationship also rose to a new level.
In Season 3, we will witness how their relationship will develop. While doing so, they will also learn more about their individuality.
The opener may seem very explicit about how they are physically attracted with each other. However, Season 3 just started and we will see how long this attraction can last once they discover the naked truth about each other.
On Gretchen's Depression
On 'You're the Worst's' Season 3 premiere episodes, we will see how Jimmy learns about his attitude towards the things that he does. Meanwhile, Gretchen is fighting a battle against depression and is constantly seeking help from a therapist.
Because their characters always defy the romantic norm, we won't be seeing Jimmy and Gretchen do mushy acts. But one thing is for sure: The scenarios will get more real as they depict how things work for people who constantly deny their romantic side.
In the first episode, Jimmy has to fight his emotions when he feels the urge to say 'I love you' to Gretchen. This often leads to well-composed funny moments between the two. Meanwhile, Gretchen's demands to Jimmy almost always leads to finding more about herself and her emotions towards Jimmy.
"You're the Worst" tagged as Terrifyingly Real
The couple's uniqueness and non-conformity to society's generalization about romantic partners also draw attention to how they both deal with their emotional challenges.
The most intriguing part of this series is how producers of the show maintain Jimmy and Gretchen's unusual characters as they are without a mix of reality from the two.
The scenes seem so real that what Jimmy, Gretchen and the other characters say and do are what most people wish they can also do so in real life.
The series has reached new heights in this new season. It has a way of taking viewers to situations they will never try themselves and, at the same time, showing the possible consequences that may occur in between these chances.
"You're the Worst" Season 3 runs every Wednesday at 10pm on FXX.
