'Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs' Latest News: Paranormal Comedy Manga Gets Animated in 2018
An anime adaptation of the popular Japanese manga series, "Yuragi-sou no Yuuna-san (Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs)," has been confirmed at the recently held Jump Festa 2018 event. Along with the announcement came the first official promotional video for the upcoming series.
The 45-second video that was presented at the event was uploaded online and region-locked to Japan. It reportedly features a beautiful girl bathing in a hot spring before showing the list of the main cast and crew in the subsequent white screen. The video then transitions back to the girl, who starts introducing herself to the audience.
As it turns out, the aforementioned character is actually the ghost of a teenage girl named Yuuna Yunohana, who has been haunting a cheap boarding house that used to be a hot springs inn.
Conflict begins when a homeless psychic named Kogarashi Fuyuzora happens upon the boarding house, which is now known as the Yuragi-sou and is currently home to a group of super sexy female tenants. Kogarashi has been offered lodging at the boarding house, and can even stay there for free, if he could get rid of the ghost that has been haunting the place.
However, upon seeing the ghost in question, Kogarashi ends up taking pity on her and chooses instead to try and save her from becoming an evil spirit instead of exorcising her. But will he be able to accomplish such a feat? Moreover, is he the only one who has supernatural abilities at the boarding house, or do the other tenants have their own ghostly secrets to tell?
The upcoming anime is based on the manga series written and illustrated by Tadahiro Miura, which was launched in 2016 on the "Weekly Shounen Jump" magazine. It has since been published in eight collective volumes in Japan, with Seven Seas releasing its first English-language volume next year in March.
Tsuyoshi Nagasawa, who previously worked on "Nyaruko: Crawling with Love!," and "Clockwork Planet," will be directing the series for the anime production studio, XEBEC, with Hideaki Koyasu taking charge of the series composition. Koyasu's previous works include, "Lance N' Masques," and "GJ Club." Kyoko Taketani, the key animator for "Negima," will be handling the character design.
Additionally, an original video animation (OVA), has been scheduled to ship along with the limited edition of the manga series' 11th volume, which will be released next year on July 4. The OVA will be adapting the 12th chapter of the manga.
"Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs" has been scheduled for a summer 2018 release.
