When Tolerance Isn't Good
Tolerance. Isn't that the watchword of the day? You can be anything but intolerant. This may come as a surprise to a nonbeliever, but all the strong Christians that I know are very tolerant.
How a Church Dies
Ruth Graham once said, "The definition of a bore is someone who, when asked how they are feeling, will actually tell you."
Resisting Temptation
In many—if not most—cases, temptation enters through the doorway of our minds. When Satan wanted to lead the first man and woman into sin, he started by attacking the woman's mind. That is why Paul warned the Corinthian believers, "But I fear that somehow you will be led away from your pure and simple devotion to Christ, just as Eve was deceived by the serpent" (2 Corinthians 11:3 NLT).
Giving Testimony
If you were to witness an accident and were interviewed by a police officer afterward, you would be expected to state the facts. You are not to embellish your testimony or make it more entertaining or more interesting, and you are not to adapt it to your own particular point of view. You are to simply tell the officer what you had seen.

An ABC Culture
I think our culture today could be described as an ABC culture: Anything But Christ. It is not unlike ancient Ephesus, which believed in pretty much anything and everything. People would come to Ephesus from around the world to follow a path of false worship that led to nowhere.
The Watchman
When Paul met with the elders of the Ephesian church for a final time, he told them, "Therefore I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all men" (Acts 20:26). What did Paul mean by this? We find the answer in the Old Testament, where God told the prophet Ezekiel:
Purple Ribbons
When I was a kid, I had all kinds of ribbons on my walls for races I had run, but not one of them was blue. Not one of them had the words "first place." They were all purple. Purple represented "honorable mention." An honorable mention is not first, second, third, or fourth place. It means "also ran." In other words, "We don't want him to feel bad, so we'll give him a purple ribbon."
Go for the Gold
When I was back in elementary school, I entered a lot of races. I never won any of them, but I had a lot of those honorable mention ribbons on the wall. (Honorable mention ribbons are basically an acknowledgement that you exist.)
