It’s not a very nice word — recession
You don’t have to be a perfect centrist to have moral cred, and you don’t have to like Republicans to be trustworthy. That’s not the point. You do have a responsibility to stop talking out of the side of your mouth and to report honestly to the people who give you a trusting ear.
The sneakier side of suffering
We are called to pursue good things and, ultimately, to pursue Christ regardless of what trials we do or don’t face along the way. To that end, may we hold our lives in open hands, ready to accept whatever the Father places into them or removes from them.
Is suffering pointless? Not to a Christian
It seems to me that our prayers, then, should not be aimed at the release from our sufferings, but at a serious and fervent call for the strengthening of our bodies and souls through suffering. When the time is right, rest assured He will permit it to pass; we need not remind Him.
