  An update on the aftermath of Hurricane sandy: The death toll in the US has risen to 111. The New York City Board of Elections has now decided to temporarily relocate or combine some polling locations. Falling temperatures on the East Coast has also put more people at risk because of gas shortages, and power outages.With temperatures near freezing more than 700,000 people were still without power in New York City, and especially Staten island. The New York City Marathon was also cancelled.

  After taking 41 lives in the Caribbean, superstorm Sandy's devastation continued to rip through the U.S. East Coast yesterday causing the American death toll to climb to 50. Sandy cut power to more than 8.2 million households and put the presidential campaign on hold just a week before Election Day. New York was among the hardest hit. Wall Street closed for two days and the city's subway system had the worst damage in its 108-year history.

  As it comes down to the final week of the Presidential campaign, hurricane Sandy bearing down on the East Coast caused and continues to cause complications with scheduling and early voting in at least four pivotal states — New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio and Virginia. Polls indicate it's a tight race with 270 electoral votes needed for victory--a majority of the 538 .

  CP World Report: US Women Voters, Uruguay Abortion, France Marriage Law

  Less than two weeks before Election Day, the gender gap is narrowing down between the two candidates. According to a new Associated Press poll: Mitt Romney has broken even with Obama among women at 47 to 47 percent, after lagging by a whopping 16 points only a month earlier. At the same time, Obama has narrowed the male gap as the least favored among male voters. Overall in the poll, Romney is the favored candidate by all voters. Only by a slight margin though: 47 to 45.

  CP World Report: Benghazi Attack, Persecution in Iran, Bullying

  After 19 months of continued violence, the Syrian government has agreed to a cease-fire during the Eid al-Adha holiday, which begins Friday and goes on for four days. The decision was announced by the U.N.-Arab League special envoy Lakhdar Brahimi . He added that some rebels have "agreed to the principle" of a cease-fire also; but whether the ceasefire will hold is another matter.

  A Public Religion Research Institute poll has found that less religious people are less likely to head to the polls this election season to vote. According to the Institute—if the findings from this survey hold true--it could potentially spell trouble for the Obama campaign. That's because voters who are less religious are more likely to support the president and Americans who identify themselves as religiously unaffiliated are the fastest growing segment in America's religious landscape.

  CP World Report: Obama v. Romney, Breakaway Episcopal Church, 'Mission Impossible' Syria

  Barack Obama and Mitt Romney are back on the campaign trail today after last night's third and final debate that focused on foreign affairs. A CNN poll found that Obama won 48 percent to 40 over Romney. Gallup also put Obama ahead — by an even higher margin -- 51 to 38. Both men are now teaming up with their running mates as the campaign heads into the final two weeks.
