A federal appeals court in New York has ruled that the Defense of Marriage Act is unconstitutional. The Court found that the Act's Section 3, which prohibits federal recognition of same-sex marriages, violates the equal protection clause of the Constitution. The 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Boston issued a similar ruling in May. The Supreme Court is expected to take up the case in the next year.

British doctors say they have hope that the Pakistani girl shot last week by the Taliban will recover from the brutal attack.. but it will take months. 14-year-old Malala You- suf- zeye is being treated at Queen Elizabeth hospital in Birmingham, England. She was shot in the head by the Taliban after campaigning for the right for girls to go to school.

A mob of around 20 Hindu radicals reportedly attacked a Christian preacher and his daughter in Northern India. The Pastor, referred to as Raju was trained by Michagan based Mission India. He was at home worshipping with others when a mob of about 20 Hindus broke in, ransacked his home with clubs and other weapons, before turning their brutality on Raju and his daughter.
CP World Report: U.S. Protestant Population, Sandusky, Syria Defector, Sudan
For the first time in its history, the U.S. does not have a Protestant majority. According to Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life the percentage of Protestants has reached a low of 48 percent. One reason given: the number of Americans with no religious affiliation is on the rise. That also includes a growth in nondenominational Christians. Demographically speaking: One-third of adults under age 30 have no religious affiliation, compared to 9 percent of people 65 and older.
