'End' Just the Beginning for Red
Newly recorded rock band Red has received overwhelming success with their first released album, the End of Silence (Essential Records), with two number-one singles and a Grammy nomination.
As of now, Breathe into Me and Already Over, among the groups first singles, are top-ranked. The songs reached the top spots during July 2006 and December 2007, respectively.
The band is now waiting for the Grammy awards on Feb. 11 where they may take home the prize in the Best Rock or Rap Gospel Album category for End of Silence. They vie for the award against four other competitors: DecembeRadio, Sarah Kelly, Jonny Lang, and T-Bone.
When we learned about our first No. 1 at radio with Breathe Into Me, we couldnt hardly believe it, said Red guitarist Jasen Rauch in CMSpin. Then came our Grammy nomination for End of Silence, which made this all seem kind of surreal. Now with the success of Already Over at radio, we simply know we are doing what we were put on this earth to do, and thats to deliver the good news we have in our hearts through our music and we plan on doing it for a long, long time.
Reds recent popularity may come as a surprise to many traditional Christians. Although the lyrics are based on their faith in God, the bands heavy sound stands out.
On the groups biography, guitarist Anthony Armstrong explains, "Rock bands aren't always very well received in the Christian world."
"But you look around at what bands are popular right now, and I think the kids are paying attention. It's a fine line, but I think we walk it pretty well."
Whatever the reason for the current fame, this band is making a name for itself with its recent accolades.
The band will play its next closest performances on Jan. 12 and 13 in Las Cruces, N.M., and Phoenix, respectively. More information on the band and its tour dates is available at www.redmusiconline.com .
