"..In Times Of Famine, They Will Have More Than Enough"
In our current economic climate, there might be a tendency for some of us Christians to loose sight of Gods eternal promises for us. This could be fueled by the constant messages of doom and gloom regarding the global, economic downturn. Or it could be that you have been affected by it, more than others (e.g. you lost your job, savings, home, etc). Regardless of where you may find yourself today (or tomorrow), I want the scripture in Psalm 37:18-19 to serve as a reminder of Gods promise to you. It says,
"Day by day the Lord takes care of the innocent, and they will receive a reward that lasts forever. They will survive through hard times; even in famine they will have more than enough." (NLT)

I believe God is using this scripture to encourage us that though hard times come, we will get through it by His divine grace and provision. And just in case you cannot see past your current situation, remind yourself of the times Gods mighty Hand provided for and/or delivered His people in the Bible. The same God who did it then, can do it now.
My question to you is do you believe He can do the same for you? If you are struggling with your faith, take a trip down memory lane. This is something I have to do frequently especially when things don't appear to be going my way. When I look back, I see miracles dotted all along the way. I remember the times I got things that weren't even on my prayer list. The times He opened doors with little or no effort on my part. The times He granted me incredible favor. The times He moved mountains on my behalf. The times He provided for me …at the very last minute. I could go on here but I believe you get my gist. The simple truth is God stays true to His word and He does make a way when there seems to be no way.
Hence, you have to hold on with every ounce of faith you have. Now, this may be a challenge for you right now, after all, trying times are never easy (I would be a liar if I professed otherwise). However, you have to get your mind off the present situation and start seeing what God sees. Oh, by the way, when I say, "take your mind off the present", I don't mean throwing common sense out of the window. I believe God wants us to use wisdom in all that we do. So in your case, it might be downsizing and monitoring your spending especially with the holiday season looming. It might mean taking steps of faith to look for another job (after been laid off) despite your misgivings of getting one. It could mean starting over again. It could even mean using what God has blessed you with (great or small) as a source of blessing for those who have less than you. So it is about being wise in our daily affairs whilst keeping our eyes (and hearts) fixed on Him.
In closing, I want to remind you of the fact that, regardless of where you find yourself today, God always takes care of His own. Also recognize that, just like the seasons of the earth, this season of your life will surely come to past. So let Gods promises be an anchor for your soul. Continually remind yourself of them because God never fails!

"Blessed be the Lord, who daily loads us with benefits." (Psalm 68:19 NKJ)
"Always remember that it is the Lord your God who gives you power to become rich, and he does it to fulfill the covenant he made with your ancestors." (Deuteronomy 8:18 NLT)
"For the word of the Lord holds true, and everything he does is worthy of our trust." (Psalm 33:4 NLT)
