'The Ten Commandments' in the Works
"The Ten Commandments" is coming to the television screen to retell the classic biblical tale of Moses.
ABC and veteran TV movie producer Robert Halmi Sr. have joined to work on the four-hour miniseries which will not be a remake of Cecil B. DeMille's 1956 movie, said Halmi.
"I felt that (the Ten Commandments) is the first written document of law, morality and order for the human race, and we completely ignore it," Halmi said.

According to Halmi, the TV production will present a realistic, truthful depiction of Moses and the exodus of the Jewish people from Egypt to Mt. Sinai through extensive biblical and hisotrical research.
In his desire to also atrract the younger audience, he said, "I think it's time for the younger generation to revisit this biblical tale as they must realize the importance and consequences of the Ten Commandments." Creating entertainment with great special effects, Halmi hopes to grab the attention of the younger viewers to read the Ten Commandments.
A more contemporary version of the "Ten Commandments" is also in the works at the FX cable channel. It is set in modern America and executive produced by Steven Soderbergh and George Clooney.
