'Uprising' Conferences Drew 179,178 men with 19,900 decisions, reports Promise Keepers

After completing its 18-city conference tour of 2004, Promise Keepers, an international men’s ministry, reported an increase of 7000 attendees this year over 2003.

After completing its 18-city conference tour of 2004, Promise Keepers, an international men’s ministry, reported an increase of 7000 attendees this year over 2003.

A total of 179,178 men and boys attended the UPRISING: A Revolution of a Man’s Soul conferences inspired by a book written by Erwin McManus, who also spoke at many of the conferences. Among them, more than 19,900 men responded to an invitation to the Christian faith offered during the first spoken word presentation of each conference. Promise reported that some 5900 men and boys responding to the Messiah's call for the very first time.

Additionally, the multi-faceted ministry collected a total of 46,950 pounds of food which were donated to local ministries, registered 1000 men to vote through its non-partisan get-out-the-vote campaign, and reached out to prisoners in West Virginia and Ohio through its webcasts.

"Thanks to God, our mission was met in 2004," said Dr. Tom Fortson, who marked his first year as president and CEO of Promise Keepers in October. "We have seen men leave the arenas as passionate followers of Jesus Christ. That is good news for their families, churches, workplaces and communities. We urge those men to plan now who they will bring with them to Promise Keepers 2005 'Awakening' men's events!"

For 2005, Promise Keepers will visit 20 cities as part of "The Awakening - An Unpredictable Adventure” conference tour. The ministry will also be celebrating its 15th Anniversary.
