1,000 Rally Against Abortion in Boston
Some 1,000 pro-life demonstrators gathered at Bostons Faneuil Hall to speak their voice before the Democratic National Convention, on Sunday, July 25, 2004.
The pro-lifers, several of them teenagers, staged a powerful die-in protest in which they laid on the floor with signs reading, Stop killing my generation and we never solve problems by killing. Others prayed on the streets and held up signs with pictures of infants that read, "Face it, abortion kills" and "stop abortion now."
In the middle of the protests, the pro-lifers clashed with 2,000 other demonstrators who were calling against the war in Iraq. According to the Associated Press, angry anti-war demonstrators pushed one pro-life protestor to the ground and tore his shirt because he was carrying a graphic anti-abortion sign. Two people were arrested; one was later released without charges.
According to the protestors, Sundays rally was just the beginning in the slew of protests prepared for the weeklong Convention.
