10 Democrats looking to challenge Trump in 2020
Kirsten Gillibrand
Senator Kirsten Gillibrand of New York announced in January that she was forming an exploratory committee to run for president, stating that she has “the passion and courage and fearless determination to get this done.”
“I'm going to run for president of the United States because as a young mom, I will fight for your children, as my own health care should be a right not a privilege,” stated Sen. Gillibrand, as reported by CBS News.
For her part, Gillibrand had fueled speculation for a run last December, when she told CNN in an interview that she was “definitely thinking about it.”
“This is sort of where my faith drives me. I do believe in these moments of great darkness — of great pain, of great suffering, of great division, of great hatred — that all of us are called to do something,” she told Van Jones of CNN.
