In a year that saw ongoing wars in the Middle East and Eastern Europe, a historic presidential election, and ongoing advances in artificial intelligence, 2024 also saw several notable Christian leaders and public personalities die.

The people who died this year sometimes made history, sometimes made headlines, sometimes garnered controversy, and sometimes influenced many within the Church and society at large.

This list does not include every notable church or ministry leader who died since New Year’s Day, and is mostly centered on Christian clergy and influencers based in the United States.

Those on this list are people who publicly identified as Christian, and are included even if they might have held theological views or performed actions that are not biblically orthodox.

Here are 10 notable Christian deaths that occurred in 2024. They include a revival evangelist, an award-winning musician, the father of Liberation Theology, a megachurch founder, and a prominent Anglican Church leader.
