United States President Abraham Lincoln once said, "The problem with quotes on the Internet is that it is hard to verify their authenticity." Okay, okay, he didn't actually say that.

However, in the age of the Internet many people have uncritically shared assorted political photo memes on social media or via mass email.

These memes often portray ideological enemies in a negative light, verifying the pre-existing conceptions that the sharer has of those they disagree with.
