'11.22.63' Season 1 News, Spoilers: Trailer For JFK Time Travel Series Revealed
Hulu has unveiled the full-length trailer for its new time travel thriller series "11.22.63," which is based on the Stephen King novel "11/22/63." The limited series, which will consist of eight episodes, follows the story of a present-day teacher named Jake Epping (James Franco), who travels back in time to try to stop John F. Kennedy's assassination. However, in the process, he becomes deeply entangled in the life he builds in the past.
Aside from entering one of the darkest chapters in American history and attempting to save the President, Jake must also deal with the challenges that time itself throws his way. "The past doesn't want to be changed," Chris Cooper, who plays Al Templeton, the old man who shows Jake how to time travel, says in the trailer. "When you're close to changing something, you feel it push back," Al warns the younger man.
The trailer for "11.22.63" suggests that to prevent JFK's assassination, Jake must instead kill Lee Harvey Oswald. It also raises doubts about Oswald's culpability in the killing as Jake investigates the circumstances before, during, and after the assassination.
"This is a book that I had loved long before Stephen King reached out and asked if I'd be interested in getting involved to produce," executive producer J.J. Abrams told The Hollywood Reporter. "We did go out to a number of places and had some offers, but the enthusiasm [at Hulu] was clear and it matched ours."
"11.22.63" also stars Josh Duhamel as Frank Dunning, T.R. Knight as Johnny Clayton, Cherry Jones as Marguerite Oswald, Daniel Webber as Lee Harvey Oswald, Sarah Gadon as Sadie Dunhill, and Leon Rippy as Harry Dunning. The series is Hulu's biggest original production to date.
"11.22.63" premieres on Monday, Feb. 15, which is, fittingly, President's Day, on Hulu.
