'19 Kids and Counting' Season 15: Episode 13 Recap, A Look Back at 3 Weddings
This week on "19 Kids and Counting," we get a glimpse of what it takes to plan a wedding as we go behind the scenes of Josh's wedding to Anna, Jill's to Derick Dillard, and Jessa's to Ben Seewald.
Jessa and Ben got married on Nov. 1, and during the wedding preparations, the couple was all about saving money so they have some left for their honeymoon. They borrowed their decorations from the church and from Jill and Derick's wedding and ordered the bridesmaids' dresses online.
The wedding planner, Sierra, said that Jessa is "good about checking that everything stays in line" and is on top of all the wedding details.
For their dessert, Jessa and Ben decided to go for brownie sundaes instead of the traditional wedding cake. For their wedding, 1,800 brownies were made.
At the wedding, Jinger was emotional as she said, "I was super excited for [Jessa] but then, at the same time, things are never going to be the same in our friendship on that level ever again."
For Jill and Derick, they had to do their wedding planning while coping with the cancer diagnosis of his mother, Cathy. The two spend a lot of time at the hospital, so Anna and the rest of the Duggar girls step in to help out. Cathy was not feeling well in the days leading up to the wedding, but on the day of the nuptials, it was almost like a miracle that she felt well enough to attend.
Sierra revealed that Jill was a low maintenance bride and only made one special request: to have root beer floats at the reception. Unfortunately, someone left the freezer open, and all 33 gallons of ice cream melted. However, Sierra was able to get some more ice cream, and she revealed that about 3,000 floats were served in an hour.
For Josh and Anna's wedding, the couple decided to save money so Anna wore her sister's dress and made her own veil. Anna also decided to sew all of the bridesmaids' dresses herself, Josh said that though they decided to cut costs here and there, it was still "the most special moment in our lives."
As it's apparently a Duggar tradition to sabotage the weddings, John David accidentally-on-purpose left the rings, and when it was time to exchange them, he jumped off the stage and ran to get them.
"It was very intentional," he said. "Weddings are always so solemn and everything so I figured I had to bring a little laughter into everybody's world."
"19 Kids and Counting" airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on TLC.
