The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will induct a legendary 2012 class in Cleveland on April 14 featuring first time nominees: Guns N' Roses, Joan Jett, Eric B. and Rakim, the Spinners, the Small Faces/Faces, The Cure, Rufus with Chaka Khan, Heart, and Freddy King.

Returning nominees include: The Beastie Boys, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Laura Nyro, War, and Donna Summer.

In order to qualify for the Hall of Fame, a band has to have had released their first single no later than 1986. Then a panel of about 500 voters will vote on a final decision.

President and CEO of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, Joel Peresman said, "The 2012 Nominees embody the broad scope of what 'rock & roll' means."

The headliners of the group are Gun's N' Roses as they blew up in the late 80s and maintained popularity into the 90s with hits like "Welcome to the Jungle" and "Paradise City."

The 2012 class also proudly features Women Who Rock with the biggest being, Joan Jett whose claim to fame was "I Love Rock 'n' Roll," Rufus with Chaka Chan–reaching fame at age 17, and sister group, Heart.

Normally inducted groups perform a song together, but the status of Guns N' Roses is unclear because they are not on speaking terms.

"I have no idea how that's supposed to go," said guitar legend Slash in a 2010 interview when asked about a Hall of Fame reunion. "If Axl, Duff, Izzy and myself start communicating, it could go one way. If we don't, God knows," he said.

In the past, feuding groups have gotten back together to perform for their fans at the Hall of Fame, most notably the Talking Heads, the Police, Led Zeppelin, and Cream.

Last year's inductees were: Alice Cooper Band, Neil Diamond, Dr. John, Darlene Love, Tom Waits.
