Teen Choice Awards 2015 Winners: 'Furious 7' cast honors Paul Walker with four prizes
The cast of the action movie "Furious 7" honored late co-star Paul Walker with the four prizes they received during the 2015 Teen Choice Awards held on Sunday.
Vin Diesel spoke on behalf of the Furious 7 cast members as they accepted the award for Choice Movie: Action/Adventure at the 2015 Teen Choice Awards night. Co-stars Michelle Rodriguez, Ludacris, and Jordana Brewster also joined Diesel onstage, according to the Toronto Sun.
Diesel, who first thanked the audience, said Furious 7 was a very special movie for them because the cast members treat each other like "true family." He also acknowledged their fans who push them to give nothing but their best in every movie they make.The actor then paid tribute to Walker, who was killed in a car crash in November 2013.
"I can't stand here and be rewarded like this without talking about someone very, very important to us," the Toronto Sun quotes Diesel's speech during the awards night. "One of the best blessings in our lives is the fact that we have the opportunity to call Pablo (Walker) our brother. Paul Walker is here in spirit with us."
The Furious 7 star went on to acknowledge the presence of Meadow Walker, Paul Walkers's 16-year-old daughter, who encouraged the cast to keep going. Diesel mentioned that the Walker family encouraged them while they were shooting the movie, Entertainment Tonight reports.
Ludacris, who was also a host in the ceremony, announced Paul Walker's award for the Choice Movie Actor: Action/Adventure. Rapper Wiz Khalifa had earlier received the award for the Choice Song from a Movie or TV Show, plus the award for Choice R&B/Hip-Hop Song for "Charlie Puth, See You Again." The song was made as a tribute to the late Hollywood star, the report relays.
Other big awardees in the 2015 Teen Choice Awards include One Direction with 23 wins, mystery drama series "Pretty Little Liars" with five awards, Britney Spears who got the Candie's Choice Style Icon award, "The Vampire Diaries" that won three prizes, and "Fifth Harmony" who also bagged three trophies.
