2016 Cadillac CT6 Ad to Debuts at Oscars
The 2016 Cadillac CT6 is set to make its red carpet debut in a new commercial for the Oscar awards next month instead of the Super Bowl.
The 2016 Oscars marks the second time in a row that Cadillac will present a new ad for the awards night, and this time, it will feature the Cadillac CT6. The flagship luxury car of Detroit will be in direct competition with the BMW 7-series, Audi A8, and Mercedes S-Class, according to Detroit News.
Unveiling the Cadillac CT6 during the Oscars is part of the company's strategy to challenge the three European carmakers that have long dominated the industry. To do this, Cadillac had to move its main office from Detroit to New York and come up with a product with the lightest and most advanced chassis, the report details.
The Cadillac CT6 will begin full production by mid-February in Hamtramck. The first batch is set to be released early March, Tech Times reports.
"If you are a resurgent luxury brand, then the premium luxury sedan market is where you make your bold statement," Cadillac President Johann de Nysschen said during the media test debut of the CT6 in Los Angeles last week. "It's where our reputation was built. Cadillac is at the forefront of innovation again."
Cadillac's upcoming car boasts of a brand-new Omega platform that combines steel and aluminum castings with modern bonding techniques. The vehicle also has 20 percent fewer car parts compared with its predecessors, resulting to a weight of only 3,657 pounds.
Because of its lighter weight, the new Cadillac is able to accommodate a 400-horsepower 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine with eight-speed automatic transmission. Plus, the firm will release a plug-in hybrid version of the car later this year.
Aside from being a lot lighter, the 2016 Cadillac CT6 will also be more affordable. The five-passenger luxury sedan will come with a starting price of $54,490.
