2018 Chevrolet Camaro: First Production Model Being Auctioned

Someone will get the right to call themselves the first person in the world to own the 2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE, thanks to the Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach auction.

The first-ever 2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE model is currently being auctioned off there for charity. The starting value is at $250,000, which is the price the last-generation Camaro ZL1 was sold for during an auction in 2011. But whatever the price ends up being, the proceeds will be given to United Way.

Dubbed as "the most track-capable Camaro ever," the new Chevrolet offering was designed so that its aerodynamics, suspension, light weight, wheels and tires work together to deliver an extreme track performance.

The 2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE is quite the formidable vehicle, boasting 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. This is all thanks to its high-powered LT4 engine, which is made more potent with the 6-speed manual transmission featuring Active Rev Match equipped with it.

The individual who walks away from the auction with the 2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE also gets to say he or she is the proud owners of the fastest Camaro there is to date.

After all, with its 10-speed automatic gearbox, the next-gen Camaro ZL1 runs 60 miles per hour in just 3.5 seconds with an impressive top speed of 198 mph.

As far as the appearance goes, perhaps one of the most notable features of the 2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE is the carbon fiber rear wing, which Dupont Registry believes allows the vehicle to stand out from the rest of the pack.

The car also sports drive planes to the front corners as well as Dynamic Suspension Spool Valve dampers on the front and rear, which should further improve the performance through better handling.

The wheels of the 2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE are wider than the stock units by an inch. Around them are exclusive Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3R summer-only tires.

All these design tweaks and changes allowed Chevy to slice off a whopping 60 pounds off the weight of the 2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE, which should translate to a 1.1 G of lateral grip on a skid pad.
