25,000 “Boxes of Love” to be Distributed During Thanksgiving
USA – Here’s Life Inner City, the ministry dedicated to serving the wholistic inner-city churches, plans to distribute 25,000 “Boxes of Love” throughout 16 cities by Saturday, November 23.
The annual “Boxes of Love” tradition provides holiday meals and literature to the urban poor. More than often, these gifts lead to an interest in the spiritual and the Gospel message.
Distributed mostly during Thanksgiving, one box of love provides a Thanksgiving meal to a family who might not otherwise have one. The project, which provides each family the ingredients needed to cook the dinner in their own homes, can feed up to six people.

Contents of a “Box of Love” include: a turkey or ham, stuffing, potatoes, canned vegetables, canned fruit, soda, dessert and Christian literature
In the past 16 years of the ministry’s history, more than 300,000 Boxes were distributed, thanks to the donations from countless individuals, and the nationwide participation of more than 500 urban church partners.
The 16 cities participating in the 2003 Thanksgiving outreach are Atlanta, Bakersfield, Central Arkansas, Chicago, Denver, Detroit, Jacksonville, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Louisville, Memphis, Milwaukee, Minneapolis-St. Paul, New York, Orlando and Seattle. More than 2,500 volunteers are expected to participate in the event.
5,000 additional boxes will also be distributed during Christmas.
