3 Killed in Denver Shooting, 2 Children Under 10 in Apparent Murder-Suicide (VIDEO)
A woman and two children were killed on Wednesday morning in Denver during an apparent shooting that some are calling a murder-suicide.
Police discovered a woman and three children in a Northeast Denver home on Wednesday. The woman and two of the child were already dead when officials arrived; a third child was taken to a nearby hospital, according to reports.
The incident took place at around 7 a.m. in the city's Globeville section, The New York Daily News confirmed. The names of the victims were not released, although it was revealed that all four children appear to be under the age of 10. Police are not actively searching for a gunman and believe the crime could be an isolated incident.
Certain news sources suspect a murder-suicide, although police have failed to confirm whether or not they believe domestic violence was involved.
"It appears to be an isolated incident. We are talking to people, we are now talking to witnesses, but we have no indication that there is a shooter out there on the loose in Denver," Denver Police Lt. Matt Murray told reporters.
The house was recently sold, Neighbor Debbie Martinez told Fox News.
"They seem like outgoing people," Martinez said. "They didn't bother anybody."
A second neighbor reported that shots were heard sometime around 5 a.m.
"Right after that a truck took off really fast," Rosalinda Bustillos told The Denver Post, adding that the neighborhood was typically a safe one.
"It's just scary because we all know each other around here, and we've been here several years," Bustillos said. "This has never happened around here, and I thought it never would."
The family contained a man, a woman, and three children. One woman said she believed the man went off to work just before the shooting occurred.
"They were friendly, we didn't hear them fighting," Joann Cobb told the paper. "I'm in such a shock. They were just a happy little family."
