3 times slain Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh proved he wasn't a 'moderate'

Calling for using ‘the blood of children, women and elderly’ to inspire a ‘revolution'

In December 2023, the research institute Palestinian Media Watch shared a video of Haniyeh from Oct. 26, a few weeks after Hamas launched its attack against Israel. The Hamas leader appeared to imply the deaths in Gaza were necessary to defeat the "occupier," a reference to the Jewish state of Israel.

"As I said, and I repeat every time, the blood of the children, women and elderly — I do not say that it shouts out to you, but rather we need this blood so that it will ignite within us the spirit of revolution so that it will arouse within us persistence so that it will arouse within us defiance and [a forward] advance."

In response to the video, the Australian Jewish Association wrote in a December 2023 X Post: "So many useful idiots in the West are falling for the Hamas strategy."

Anti-Israel advocates often cite numbers from the Gaza Health Ministry when arguing against Israel's ongoing military operations against Hamas following the group's Oct. 7 massacre. The Gaza Health Ministry, run by Hamas, claims that Israel's military operation has resulted in the deaths of over 39,000 people. However, these numbers do not distinguish between civilians and combatants.
