4 Lottery Winners Whose Lives Weren't Ruined By Suddenly Being Rich (VIDEO)
Two winning tickets were sold for last night's $636 Mega Millions jackpot, meaning that two households in America have just had their worlds turned upside down.
We often hear how the lives of lottery winners derail when millions are thrust upon them. But there are some who face fortune with a better perspective. Here are four lottery winners who use their winnings to show love and generosity to others.
Tom Crist of Calgary, Canada
Crist won $40 million this May and isn't keeping one Canadian penny of it. He plans to put the winnings in a family trust and distribute it to charities over time.
Mark and Cindy Hill of Dearborn, Mo.
After winning nearly $294 million in a November 2012 Powerball drawing, the Hills have committed to help the people of Mark's hometown of Camden Point by building a new fire station and ball field, and bringing sewer service by helping build a treatment plant.
Jacki and Gilbert Cisneros of Newport Beach, Calif.
With some of the $266 million they won from Mega Millions in 2010, the Cisneros family started a foundation that gives grants and scholarships to working-class Hispanic youth.
William Kiefer of Katy, Tex.
When Kiefer won $144 million in a 2010 Mega Millions drawing, many in need won with him. Saying that the greatest gift his parents gave him was a Christian upbringing, Kiefer vowed to set an example for others and support worthy causes like helping abused children, disaster victims and retired nuns.
