4 Times Celebrities Honored God at the 2017 BET Awards
2. Celebration of Gospel Live Event With One Church LA
For the first time in the awards show's history, the One Church LA megachurch led by Pastor Touré Roberts and Sarah Jakes Roberts joined forces with the network to create an opportunity for praising and worshiping God before the airing of the show. In an event called Celebration of Gospel Live, people attended the Los Angeles Convention center for a free four-hour event featuring performances by singers Major., Tasha Cobbs, Jonathan McReynolds, Mali Music and Israel Houghton.
Those in attendance were also treated to a performance from the One Church LA dance ministry called One Movement. The dancers performed choreography created by A-list creative director Laurieann Gibson (Nicki Minaj, Lady Gaga) who happens to be a member of the congregation.
Roberts said he was thankful to launch the event filled with music, dance performances, art and Scripture before the popular 2017 BET Awards show on Sunday.
"We're very thankful to BET for granting One Church LA an unbelievable platform to share our message during BET Weekend," he said in a statement obtained by The Christian Post. "We're making the most of this incredible opportunity with an unforgettable experience!"
Roberts' wife and co-pastor called the opportunity nothing short of amazing.
"It's a blessing to join forces with such amazing partners like BET," Sarah said. "It's an amazing opportunity to bring music, performance, and the Word together, and we've got some surprises in store. Can't wait to see you all there."
