4 Times Celebrities Honored God at the 2017 BET Awards
3. Chance The Rapper's Acceptance Speech for the 2017 BET Humanitarian Award
At 24 years old, Chancelor Bennett, better known as Chance The Rapper, acknowledged that receiving the 2017 BET Humanitarian Award at such a young age was unorthodox. Chance was given the award after vowing to donate $1 million to the Chicago, Illionis, education system last March.
While the independent artist understands that he's the youngest person in BET's 16-year award show history to receive the honor, he used his unrehearsed acceptance speech to shed light on the fact that it was God's plan taking place, not his own.
"I'm 24, and to be receiving something like this at my age is a little bit ... it feels a little early to get something like this, but my God doesn't make mistakes," he told the audience at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles Sunday night. "I like to think that He's putting this enormous pressure on me to see how I'm going to react."
