Nancy Pelosi opens a San Francisco salon during a lockdown
Last August, security footage showed a maskless House Speaker Nancy Pelosi receiving treatment at a hair salon in contradiction with a San Francisco COVID-19 mandate that required salons to stay closed during the pandemic.
At the time, the restrictions in San Francisco prohibited salons from operating indoors and banned procedures such as shampooing, coloring and chemical treatments, according to CNN.
The salon owner, Erica Kious, described Pelosi’s Aug. 31 visit as a “slap in the face" in an interview with Fox News.
“She feels that she can just go and get her stuff done while no one else can go in, and I can't work,” Kious was quoted as saying.
Pelosi’s staff said she just removed her mask for the entire visit, except when she got her hair washed, which is when the security camera showed Pelosi without a mask on.
In response to the public outrage for the exclusive salon visit, when no one else could receive the same service, Pelosi said the salon owes her an apology since it was “clearly a setup.”
