4 Year-old Mayor in Dorset, Minnesota Seeks Second Term

The little tourist town of Dorset, Minnesota is home to the world's youngest mayor at just four years old.

Mayor Robert "Bobby" Tufts has not even began school, yet he runs the show in Dorset and is seeking a second term since being elected at age three.

The town has a population of anywhere from 22 to 28 people, and bills itself as the restaurant capital of the world.

For just one dollar per vote, people can submit names to the town's ballot boxes during the Taste of Dorset Festival where the winner is announced on August 4.

"I would love to be your Mayor as much as I love Sophie [his girlfriend]," the boys campaign card reads.

"He's been pretty good. Lotta PR for the town," said his mother, Emma Tufts to the Associated Press. "I think he's doing a fine job."

Young Bobby spends most of his time greeting the tourists who pass through the town, playing with his girlfriend Sophie, and eating ice cream.

"Chocolate. And vanilla. Strawberry. Cotton candy kind. And rainbow sherbet," said the mayor to the Associated Press.

"I think he's a cute little bugger and I think a lot of people share the same, you know, opinion as me, and it's neat," Hubbard County Sheriff Cory Aukes said to AP. "You know, how often do you see a little kid like that who's - call 'em camera-friendly or whatever, you know - he's got a very good little personality, and he's not afraid to show it. So I think it's great."

Bobby's latest venture was leading a group of roughly 20 children and adults on the Heartland Trail to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House charity.
