4Him's Mark Harris To Release Solo Debut In June
Mark Harris, primary songwriter for the renowned praise & worship quartet 4Him, will be releasing his debut solo project with INO Records on June 7, 2005. Aptly titled The Line Between The Two, the record took Harris out of his comfort zone with 4Him and gave him the opportunity to reflect his life journey and discover the mere trace of a line between birth and death.
You look at a tombstone and there are dates, but the line between the two is the life lived, explains Harris. And thats really the story, the story isnt the beginning and the end of your life but the story is what you did on that line, living in that line. Not one of us can define the moment that were born or die, but we can choose how we live the time that were here.
After more than 15 years with 4Him, Harris follows his heart and creates a project that reveals his personal journey to self-discovery, as well as invites complacent or hesitant Christians to explore uncharted territory to follow God. On this journey, Harris also learned that making a solo project involves many facets that are not involved with a group project.
This has been different because the process is just more personal, and the process of writing has pushed me because its a different thing, Harris states.
The Line Between The Two features the production skills of Pete Kipley (MercyMe, Rebecca St. James) along with many of the songs written or co-written by Harris himself. In addition to Harris, this project also displays acclaimed songwriters Dan Muckala, Tony Wood, Dave Clark, Chris Eaton, Gary Sadler, and John Hartley.
In his many years with 4Him, Harris was the primary pen on 22 no.1 hits (Cant Get Past the Evidence, The Basics of Life), the recipient of 8 Dove Awards and a performer with the Billy Graham and Louis Palau crusades.
Harris continues to tour with 4Him across the country, and resides in Mobile, Alabama with his wife of 15 years and two children (Matthew, 11, Maddison, 9).
