5 Bible Verses on Not Worrying About the Future
What about tomorrow? What will it look like? What will happen? So much of the human experience is about wondering and worrying about the future.
Recently, many Americans were focused on the date: Oct. 21, 2015, which was made significant thirty years ago with the hit cinematic sequel "Back to the Future II."
As people compare the movie's view of today, versus how today actually is, some wonder if things will be better thirty years from now, or worse.
Well, the Bible has a few things to say about not worrying about the future — regardless of whether or not we get flying cars and hoverboards.
Below are a few passages and verses related to being overly concerned about the future and how we should not let the future worry us.
1. James 1:2-4
"Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters,[a] whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."
2. Micah 4:3-5
"He will judge between many peoples and will settle disputes for strong nations far and wide. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore. Everyone will sit under their own vine and under their own fig tree,
and no one will make them afraid, for the Lord Almighty has spoken. All the nations may walk in the name of their gods, but we will walk in the name of the Lord our God for ever and ever."
3. 1 Corinthians 2:9
"Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him."
4. Revelation 21:4
"And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away."
5. Matthew 6:34
"Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof."
