2. Walz signed bills making Minnesota a sanctuary state for trans procedures on kids

In an X post last year, Walz celebrated that he had signed a series of bills that “ban the harmful practice of [so-called] ‘conversion therapy’” and “protect access to gender-affirming care.” He cited the legislation he approved as examples of how “in Minnesota, we’re expanding rights — not taking them away.”

Walz’s approval of House File 16 makes Minnesota one of 23 states that restrict what LGBT activists refer to as “conversion therapy” for minors. The legislation defines conversion therapy as any practice that “seeks to change an individual’s sexual orientation or gender identity, including efforts to change behaviors or gender expressions or to eliminate or reduce sexual or romantic attractions or feelings toward individuals of the same gender.”

The measure subjects any mental health professional who provides therapy for unwanted same-sex attraction to “disciplinary action by the licensing board” that has jurisdiction over them.

Walz’s approval of House File 146 makes Minnesota one of 14 states that have what LGBT activists characterize as “shield laws” that protect minors who travel to the state seeking body mutilating sex-change procedures such as chemical or surgical castration that are illegal in their state.

The law categorizes any “law of another state that authorizes a state agency to remove a child from the child’s parent or guardian because the parent or guardian allowed the child to receive gender-affirming health care” as “against the public policy of this state.”

“A court order for the removal of a child issued in another state because the child’s parent or guardian assisted the child in receiving gender-affirming care in this state must not be enforced in this state,” the legislation states.

The measure also enables the state to assume “temporary emergency jurisdiction” over a child if “the child has been unable to access gender-affirming health care.”
