5 'gruesome and unethical' abortion clinic practices for disposing of aborted baby body parts
Planned Parenthood-affiliated lab contracts with medical waste disposal company
As the IndyStar reported in 2016, Indiana waste disposal facility MedAssure was fined $11,250 for accepting aborted remains from Pathology Services, “a Missouri lab that services Planned Parenthood.”
MedAssure reportedly accepted three- to-six 31-gallon containers of aborted remains a week for four years. The company uses microwaves and steam on infectious waste before disposing of it at a separate site. MedAssure contended it was unaware of the connection between Pathology Services and Planned Parenthood.
Following the Indiana Department of Environmental Management investigation, MedAssure was fined $9,000. An IDEM spokesperson clarified that disposing of fetal remains is not illegal in Indiana. However, the company’s solid waste permit prohibited them from accepting such materials.
