"The way it was done, it was so bad. Right in the back. ... A thing like that, you just, you can't believe that some people — and maybe it's fake news." pic.twitter.com/nmvZvbZClb
"I think it's really terrible that some people seem to admire him," Trump said. "That was a terrible thing. It was cold-blooded. Just a cold-blooded, horrible killing."
"How people can like this guy is … that's a sickness, actually," Trump added. "Maybe it's fake news, I don't know. It's hard to believe that can even be thought of, but it seems that there's a certain appetite for him. I don't get it."
Mangione was arrested at a McDonald's in Altoona, Pennsylvania, last week following a five-day manhunt and charged with Thompson's murder in New York City.
Some on social media have expressed admiration for Mangione because of his physical appearance and alleged willingness to murder the CEO of a health insurance company.
During footage of the Bop to the Top tour in Boston last Friday that went viral on social media, concertgoers at the MGM Music Hall were recorded cheering as images of Mangione were shown on the screen.
