Chinese dissident calls Chinese Communist Party the ‘enemy of humanity’
Chen Guancheng, a blind Chinese dissident, delivered a speech explaining the horrors that he and others have experienced under the Chinese Communist Party. He called on the Untied States to form a global coalition to take on the Chinese government.
“When I spoke out against China’s one-child policy and other injustices, I was prosecuted, beaten, sent to prison and put under house arrest by the Chinese Communist Party,” the 48-year-old recalled.
“I later escaped and was given shelter in the American embassy in Beijing. I’m forever grateful to the American people for welcoming me and my family to the United States, where we are now free.”
Chen went on to call the CCP “an enemy of humanity” that is “terrorizing its own people” and “threatening the way of being of the world.”
“In China, expressing beliefs or ideas not approved by the CCP — religion, democracy, (and) human rights — can lead to prison,” he warned. “The nation lives under mass surveillance and censorship. The U.S. must use its values of freedom, democracy, and the rule of law to gather a coalition of other democracies to stop CCP’s aggression.”
While the Trump administration has often condemned the Chinese government’s human rights abuses, Chen called on “other countries to join [Trump] in this fight.”
