'A serious conversation': Liberal power players react as calls for Biden to drop out grow
Rep. Jamie Raskin
Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., appeared on MSNBC Sunday, where he didn't rule out the possibility that Biden may be replaced as the Democratic nominee for president.
Discussing how "there was a big problem with Joe Biden's debate performance," Raskin said, "There are very honest and serious rigorous conversations taking place at every level of our party."
He noted that "we're having a serious conversation about what to do" before stressing that Biden had a role to play at the DNC regardless of whether he is the Democrats' presidential nominee or not.
"Regardless of what President Biden decides, our party's going to be unified," he asserted. "And our party also needs him at the very center of our deliberations and our campaign."
Raskin said, "Whether he's the candidate or someone else is the candidate, he is going to be the keynote speaker at our convention." He envisions Biden as "the figure that we rally around to move forward and beat the forces of authoritarianism and reaction in the country."
