5 things to know about Pam Bondi, Trump's new AG pick
Harassed outside of a movie theater for supporting Trump policies
In 2018, Bondi was confronted by protesters as she exited a movie theater after watching a documentary about the popular children's television program host Mr. Rogers.
The protest, spearheaded by the liberal group Organize Florida, was purportedly designed to express disapproval of Bondi's support for the Trump administration's immigration policies.
While Bondi reported that at least one protester spat on her during the confrontation, she remained open to the possibility that that portion of her encounter was accidental rather than deliberate. The protesters reportedly had to be deterred by Bondi's security personnel.
"We were in a movie about anti-bullying and practicing peace and love and tolerance and accepting of people for their differences," Bondi told Tampa Bay Times.
She contrasted the behavior modeled in the film with that of the protesters.
"That's what Mr. Rogers is all about," she said. "We all believe in free speech, but there's a big difference there."
