Defended Trump in litigation against social media giants and his impeachment trial

After leaving office in 2019, Bondi joined the America First Policy Institute, a think tank comprised of many Trump administration alumni. In 2021, the America First Policy Institute filed a lawsuit seeking to have Trump's access to several social media platforms restored after he was banned from them following the Jan. 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol riot.

Bondi, who served as chair of the organization's Constitutional Litigation Partnership, released a statement insisting that Americans' First Amendment rights were "on the line" in the case against Facebook, Twitter and Google.

"The law and Constitution are on our side," she said at the time. "America is the great country that it is because our Constitution protects our freedoms, including freedom from censorship — this lawsuit ensures that those rights are properly defended."

As Trump was the subject of an impeachment trial in 2020, Bondi served as one of his defense lawyers. When addressing Hunter Biden's relationship with the Ukrainian energy company Burisma that overlapped with then-Vice President Joe Biden's tenure in the Obama administration, Bondi called his position at the business "nepotistic at best, nefarious at worst."
