Orban, who has cultivated a close political relationship with Trump over the years, has been a vocal supporter of Trump's nationalist, "America First" policies, and the two leaders share a similar vision on issues such as immigration, national sovereignty and skepticism toward globalism.

In the past, Orban's government has praised Trump's strong stance on border security, while Orban himself has emphasized the importance of strong national identities and has been a critic of European Union policies.
