50 Shades of Grey Movie Cast Rumors: Christian Grey Will Not Be Garret Hedlund nor Ian Somerhalder (VIDEO, PHOTO)

The "Fifty Shades Of Grey" cast is still a mystery, with fans desperate to know who will play Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey in the film adaptation of the bestselling novel. The latest rumors surrounding the novel by E.L. James is that Garrett Hedlund and Ian Somerhalder will not land the coveted role of Christian Grey.

According to a source of US Magazine, the On the Road actor, 28, has rejected the lead role for the movie.

"Doing a possible trilogy was too big a commitment, and producers wouldn't let him do just one film," says an insider to US Magazine.

Other rumors said that The Vampire Diaries actor Ian Somerhalder is out too, though he was expressing an interest in playing the part.

"It could be very, very amazing," Somerhalder said during an interview with Ryan Seacret on KISS-FM in April. "I have the book and I just started reading it. That would be a pretty incredible thing, and hopefully that could pan out . . . Beyond the shadow of a doubt, I think that would be a phenomenal opportunity!"

Just a few weeks ago, Somerhalder was questioned again about the role, and he told Metro Online, "One can never get bored of people asking about a huge project."

"Everyone has to realize every guy in Hollywood is up for this role. It could be anyone – that's how that goes."

However, E.L. James said at Comic-Con that he will not get the part.

The film version of E.L. James novel "Fifty Shades Of Grey," directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, is set to release on Aug. 1, 2014.
