A Texas-based charity received its own Christmas miracle of sorts when a donor left a $50,000 check underneath the statue of the Christ Child in their outdoor manger scene.

The Children's Home, a Christian orphanage started in 1924, was recently given the surprise donation in a nativity display placed outside its administrative offices.

Darrin Murphy, president of The Children's Home, explained to The Christian Post in an interview what happened this past Wednesday.

"A gentleman called first thing in the morning and encouraged our receptionist to go 'look under Jesus'," said Murphy.

"She was very confused and asked for clarification and he said 'look under the manger where Jesus is'. She then went out and lifted up the manger and there was an envelope with the check for $50k in it."

Murphy told CP that he and his charity "were very encouraged by the donation," given they "work with kids that have come from very tough backgrounds."

"When we receive a gift like this it is a reminder that we are doing God's will by taking care of orphans. It is an encouragement to our entire campus that others believe in and want to encourage the work," continued Murphy.

"It is also great for our kids. Our kids are dynamic givers within the community. (I could tell lots of incredible stories here). They are philanthropic because they understand they have received the generosity of others."

According to its website, The Children's Home offers a range of services to help youths sent to them from broken and unsafe homes.

On their campus the charity has seven home buildings for kids, with some reserved for children aged 5-10 and others for ages 10-16.

Support programs The Children's Home oversees include "a family-style environment," "daily life that includes devotions, mealtime prayer, church attendance and activities," and "additional services as needed: academic coaches, therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists and mental health counselors."

"We go above and beyond with our kids to provide experiences, this type of donation allows us to focus on that type of care for our kids," said Murphy.

"Over 70 percent of our funding comes from the community, so this allows us to focus on kids and their future rather than funding."
