During a back-and-forth about the dangers of AI, Carlson and Rogan veered into a discussion about evolution, with the former Fox News host questioning if the theory is true.
"You can measure adaptation, but there's no evidence that evolution — in fact, I think we've kind of given up on the idea of evolution. The theory of evolution as articulated by Darwin is, like, kind of not true."

When Rogan asked him to clarify in what sense he believes evolution is not true, Carlson explained that the fossil record bears no evidence that life evolved from a single-celled organism.
"There’s tons of records of adaptation and you see it in your own life. I mean, I have a lot of dogs. I see a lot of adaptations in dogs … but no, there’s no evidence at all, none, zero, that people evolved seamlessly from a single-cell ameba, no, there’s not. There’s not," he maintained.
"There’s no chain in the fossil record of that at all. That’s why you don’t actually hear people — you hear them make reference to evolution because the theory of adaptation is clearly, obviously true, Darwin’s theory is totally — that’s why it’s still a theory almost 200 years later, you know?"
"God created people distinctly, and animals," Carlson later said in summary of what he believes about mankind's origins. "I think that's what every person on Earth thought until the mid-19th century, actually. It's not a new idea." He also pushed back on Rogan's assertion that modern man understands more about reality than those who went before.
"We understand so little that we're actually sitting here allowing a bunch of greedy, stupid, childless — childless! — software engineers in northern California to flirt with the extinction of mankind. Previous generations would be like, 'What? No. Stop.'"
Carlson took flak on X for his assertions about evolution, including from X CEO Elon Musk. In response to one user who posted a graphic suggesting that Carlson is a "zealot" possessed of conviction without knowledge, Musk replied, "Yeah."
