GOP debate tackles ‘Rich Men North of Richmond,’ Vivek's experience, Trump's indictments
Ukraine
The U.S. has committed approximately $77 billion in aid to Ukraine to fight the Russian invasion of the Eastern European country. And President Biden is asking Congress for more funds for Ukraine.
When asked about possibly giving more funding to Ukraine, DeSantis said that he believed “Europe needs to stand up” and shoulder more of the support to the Ukrainians.
Ramaswamy called U.S. involvement in the conflict “disastrous” and argued that the financial resources would be better served being spent on domestic issues like border security.
Christie spoke about the atrocities Russia is committing in Ukraine, warning that “if we don’t stand up to” Russian President Vladimir Putin, then “we will be next.”
“Anybody that thinks that we can’t solve the problems here in the United States and be the leader of the free world has a pretty small view of the greatest nation on earth,” said Pence. “We can do both, Vivek.”
Regarding the conflict, Haley, the former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, said a president “needs to have moral clarity” and know “the difference between right and wrong." She noted that Ukraine is “a pro-American country that was invaded by a thug.”
“A win for Russia is a win for China,” Haley warned. “We have to know that Ukraine is the first line of defense for us.”
