According to her official biography with the Episcopal Diocese of Washington, Budde has a bachelor of arts in history from the University of Rochester, graduating magna cum laude.
Budde also earned a Master of Divinity in 1989 and a Doctor of Ministry in 2008 from Virginia Theological Seminary, an Episcopal Church-affiliated seminary based in Alexandria, Virginia.
Budde is also the author of three books, and is married with two adult sons, Amos and Patrick, with her biography describing her and her husband as “proud and doting grandparents.”
