Brent Leatherwood

Brent Leatherwood, president of the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention, published an X thread about the decision.

"#SCOTUS decided not to rule on the merits of prior safety standards related to abortion pill and the FDA's action to remove those standards, which included in-person visits. If anyone truly cares about women's health, this decision should be alarming," he wrote.

"The chemical abortion drug at the center of this case has been shown to have harmful and life-threatening effects on mothers," he detailed. "And, obviously, it destroys preborn lives that deserve protection."

Leatherwood expressed disappointment that "the Court would prefer this matter is solved thru other means" since "the time it will take for other measures to be put in place affords more time for the abortion industry to target mothers — and preborn lives will inevitably be lost."

He characterized the loss of lives to abortion from the abortion pill as "what makes this loss so heartbreaking."
