'Morally repugnant: 7 withering responses to Kamala Harris' abortion clinic tour
5. 'I am distressed'
Bishop Michael Burbidge, who leads the Roman Catholic Diocese of Arlington and chairs the U.S. bishops’ Committee on Pro-Life Activities, also denounced Harris' visit to the abortion clinic, while noting that she neglected to go to a facility that encourages life.
"I am distressed to learn that the vice president is visiting an abortion clinic when there are so many agencies and organizations who are at the service of life that she could visit," Burbidge said in a statement provided to the Catholic News Agency (CNA).
"She could learn about all they do to welcome every child, and how they support and accompany the mothers and fathers, especially those in need," he added.
The bishop's diocese announced last week that they were willing to assist in the burial of a late-term baby that was found in a pond outside Washington, D.C., according to CNA.
Burbridge exhorted "the faithful of the diocese and all people of goodwill to join me in prayer for the child’s mother and for anyone involved in this incident."
