9-Year-Old Electrocuted; in Medically-Induced Coma; Family Testifies to God's Healing Power
A 10-year-old boy is receiving prayers and support from around the world after being electrocuted during a birthday party.
Elijah Belden of Temecula, California, was at his own birthday party on Saturday, Oct. 4, when the accident occurred. He was standing by a metal pole holding up a tent away from the family's swimming pool. However, something happened and Elijah wound up being electrocuted; family friend and sheriff deputy Scott Baker was able to break the connection between Elijah and the metal pole, possibly saving his life.
The 10-year-old was airlifted to a children's hospital, where his family met their pastor, Alex McLean, who spent hours with the family in those first crucial moments. The family is relying on faith and God to bring their son through this ordeal; he has been in a medically-induced coma in order to give his body a chance to heal from the severe injuries. They have not spoken much about the ordeal but want people to know God's healing power.
"We want to be able to share our families [sic] faith in our God that we are bound together as a unit trusting in HIM for Elijah's outcome," his family posted on their Facebook page, Pray for Elijah Belden.
The page has over 5,800 likes and is being closely followed by those offering support to the boy, his family, and in return, his family is keeping everyone updated on Elijah's condition. Thankfully, the boy is expected to wake up from his coma any time now—he was doing well enough to have the medication keeping him comatose discontinued and his body will hopefully begin waking itself up soon.
People from around the world have learned of Elijah's story and have posted photos of prayers, lit prayer candles, and sent letters to offer their support. His classmates and baseball team have begun wearing pink in order to show support. The Beldens' church made them a prayer blanket to wrap Elijah in when able.
